SUMMARY:GV635[vs] Divoratori
DESCRIPTION:GV635[vs] Divoratori\nAn artistic project by Valeria Fondi\nCreated in 2014\, GV635[vs] Divoratori is a photographic project by Italian artist Valeria Fondi\, exploring the theme of spiritual hunger through a series of deeply symbolic and three-dimensional images\, inspired by chapter 6 of John’s gospel. The visual journey investigates various forms of inner emptiness and hollow religiosity that\, while appearing to offer spiritual solutions\, fail to nourish the soul or bring it peace. The photographs confront modern dependencies — wealth\, the obsession with luxury\, and media idolatry — ultimately portraying the extreme consequences of an unquenched hunger: disorientation\, isolation\, and madness. \nThe project culminates in two images inspired by the Song of Songs\, where a woman\, exhausted and seated in the shadows with open hands\, surrenders after a long and futile search. It is in the heart of the night that she encounters Jesus\, the Bridegroom of her soul. Her face\, darkened by mud — a symbol of sin’s obscuration — is illuminated as Christ draws near. A living flame glows in her eyes\, the sign of revelation beginning to take hold within her. That light is Christ\, the Redeemer of her soul — the one who nourishes and brings peace to all who earnestly seek Him. \n⸻ \nArtist Biography\nValeria Fondi is an Italian artist and author whose creative journey began shortly after high school with the study of Scripture. A profound encounter with the Gospel has left an indelible mark on her life and motivated her to passionately explore foundational biblical principles\, which now form the core of her artistic expression. \nFrom this spiritual exploration have emerged various projects\, including the poetry collection Blooming Love and the photographic cycle GV635[vs] Divoratori\, a series focused on the soul’s hunger. This visual project debuted in 2014 at Open Art House in Ivrea\, and is now being presented for the first time in the United States at Luz Art Gallery in New York. In 2015\, she published the artistic manifesto The Language of Heaven\, a reflection on the urgency of using contemporary visual language to transform Italy’s collective imagination around the figure of Christ. The text is enriched with contributions from artists of the SVA group in Milan\, with whom she collaborated for several years. \nBefore moving to Venice\, she published her first biblical study book\, Face to Face with the King\, in which she describes twelve one‑to‑one encounters between Jesus and ordinary men and women\, each conveying a spiritual principle from His Kingdom. She is currently working on her first novel\, dedicated to the spiritual realm and the language of the Spirit.

SUMMARY:"Eden Restored" - Rachel Neikirk
DESCRIPTION:Luz Art NYC presents “Eden Restored” artist Rachel Neikirk.\nIn this exhibition “Eden Restored” silk painter Rachel Neikirk presents heaven as a glorious\, global garden. She draws upon tree and garden metaphors from throughout the Bible\, especially in Genesis\, Revelation\, and the Gospels. Jesus is the Gardener and Vinedresser of a multifaceted garden containing stunning flora and fauna from twelve regions of the earth. The twelve regions refer to the twelve gemstones and twelve kinds of fruit born by the Tree of Life in Revelation 21-22. Within the gardens are men and women representing a restored Adam and Eve from the nations of the earth\, abiding in Jesus the Vine. The seven-foot-tall silk paintings fill the room\, inviting everyone to get lost in imagining the glory that is to be revealed in the new heavens and the new earth. \n  \n\n

SUMMARY:"Imago Dei" at the Venice Biennale
DESCRIPTION:Luz Art proudly announces the presentation of “Imago Dei” at the Venice Biennale\, running from July 1st to July 21st\, 2024. This distinguished group exhibition will delve into the profound theme of creation\, offering diverse interpretations of the image of God. The curated selection of artworks will reflect on the divine essence of individuality and our unique status as created beings. \nThe exhibition will feature an impressive lineup of artists\, including Mark Hernandez\, Debbie Clark\, Mindi Oaten\, Rachel Neikirk\, Marguerite Anglin\, Kathryn Yarbrough\, Heather Strazza\, Katie Babb\, Katharine Ward\, Wayne Forte\, Muriel Kom\, and Sandra Bowden. \nArtistic creation is deeply rooted in our divine connection to God. The term “Imago Dei” encapsulates this concept\, emphasizing humanity’s ability to forge identities and transform ideas into tangible art. This process mirrors God’s creation narrative in Genesis – a cycle of observation\, reflection\, planning\, and manifesting the intangible. Our creative gift enables us to participate in this divine process\, inviting God’s presence and honoring Him through our artistic endeavors. \nThe International Fine Art Fund\, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the development and promotion of sacred artworks\, proudly supports this exhibition. \n  \nImago Dei\nGod says in Genesis 1:26\, “Let Us make man in Our image\, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth\, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” In the creation narrative of Genesis\, it is clear that God makes a distinction between His creation of humanity and everything else He creates. God uniquely creates mankind in His own image. If humans are made in the image of God then we have inherent value bestowed on us by our Creator. If we posses God’s likeness then we are to live in a way that reflects His loving and righteous character. Being like God\, He has gifted mankind with the authority to rule and steward His other creations. The beginning of our story shows us God’s original intention for us and it also shows us how the first humans used our free will to choose what God never intended for us. \nIn Genesis 2:16-17\, God gives the first man a command to not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil because death would be the result. Eve\, tempted by the serpent gave some of the forbidden fruit to her husband Adam and they rebelled against God together. Humanity was expelled from Eden but\, not left without hope. It was the beginning of the longing for the One that would restore humanity to its rightful place. The paradise that was lost in Adam has been found in God’s Son\, Jesus Christ. Adam introduced sin and death into the human condition. Jesus introduced everlasting life by His death on the cross and resurrection from the dead. He will save all those who repent and trust in Him. The Apostle Paul says In Romans 5:17\, “For if by the transgression of the one\, death reigned through the one\, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One\, Jesus Christ.” \n-Eric Turcott\, Principal Theologian \n

SUMMARY:My Beloved
DESCRIPTION:My Beloved \nYeltsin Canini describes “The Universal Bride\,” a painting that is unfinished at the time of this interview. Opening May 3rd at LUZ Art Dallas\, the finished piece will tie together the My Beloved exhibition. He says\, “The Universal Bride” is “all nations coming together to be the beloved of the King and to be with Him in His Kingdom.” My Beloved is a series representing seven countries with portraits of seven brides. Canini researched bridal garb and traditions to symbolize each nation. This parallels the anticipation of the church being ready for its bridegroom Jesus Christ. The universal theme represents the reality that salvation is available to all\, and that God celebrates our unique qualities and cultural ways of worship. \nThe brides are a mix of nations – India\, China\, Korea\, Germany\, Israel\, Ukraine\, and Ethiopia – also represent Biblical figures. In Korea\, the bridal procession includes a dancer who announces the arrival of the bride and groom. To Canini\, this symbolizes David ushering in the Ark of the Covenant. Germany represents Mary. She is carrying a lamb to represent her role as a vessel that carried Christ into the world. Canini parallels the attempted eradication of one breed of German sheep to the killing of male children and newborns by King Herod. A few sheep survived\, and Jesus was kept safe and fulfilled his purpose. “Mary is carrying a remnant of what will be sent to the slaughter\,” says Canini\, “the last sacrifice for our sins.” \nUltimately\, the bride is a symbol of mankind. Canini recognizes that men may struggle with this symbol. He interprets it as being deeply known by God and submitting to his sovereignty\, for men and women. “Men can be the bride\, too\, and see God as our beloved\,” says Canini. “We are under his covering all the days of our lives and will be in eternity with him.” \nThe universal focus of the exhibition transcends current issues surrounding the opposition of genders\, racial and ethnic strain\, and literal warfare. We are all the beloved of God and are called to recognize his sovereignty over us. \nView My Beloved at LUZ Art Dallas\nOpening May 3rd\, 2024\n1640 Irving BLVD\nDallas\, TX 75207 \n…..\nYeltsin Canini’s paintings are informed by a passion for art history and personal spiritual revelations. Canini began studying painting while living in Puerto Rico at the age of fourteen. He later moved to Dallas\, Texas\, and studied fine art\, art history\, and museum studies at Dallas College and the University of Texas at Arlington. He has created award-winning fine art and museum education programs.

SUMMARY:The Sacred Art of Ethiopia by Sandra Bowden Collections
DESCRIPTION:Ethiopia is one of the oldest Christian civilizations in the world from which rose a rich artistic culture. Even today\, more than half of Ethiopians identify as Christian. \nThe Sacred Art of Ethiopia is organized to celebrate Ethiopia’s rich artistic heritage. Most of the pieces in the show are the work of Ethiopian artisans from the last thirty to fifty years who carry on ancient forms of sacred art-making in the modern era. They include elaborate metal processional and pectoral crosses that have a distinctly African appearance\, folding icons\, and leather and parchment paintings for Ethiopian illuminated manuscripts and prayer books. The highlight of the show is a hundred-year-old painting on leather of the Virgin Mary and Her Beloved Son surrounded by stories from the life of Jesus. \nAs is so beautifully seen in The Sacred Art of Ethiopia\, the purpose of these artists is to picture the Gospels in color. It is hoped that this exhibition enriches understanding of how diverse and rich the expressions of God’s people all over the world\, both in the last 2000 years\, but also today. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Family\, Culture\, & Faith
DESCRIPTION:Opening on October 21st at LUZ ART\, Family\, Culture\, & Faith is a collection of memories and stories revisited by Mark Hernandez with a renewed perspective. Hernandez is a married father of four\, an art educator\, who serves as a pastor. The portraits explore the complexities of family life\, culture\, and hardship\, with a focus on hope. Looking back on the narratives of his family history through the lens of his Christian faith has allowed him to see beyond the difficulties that used to be his focus\, and into the spiritual qualities of the experiences. “God called me to paint how I see Him through the portraits of my family\,” he says. The portraits are “a story of how God moved in these people’s lives.” Bold colors and strong mo9fs support the stories that are told on each person’s face. Hernandez’s portraits are a process of healing from cultural and generational wounds.

SUMMARY:Living Free - Shenshen210
DESCRIPTION:Artist:\nShenShen210: is best known for her soulful portraits over the course of almost four decades. As a vanguard graffiti artist\, Shen continually elevates her signature style\, bringing the street art medium to galleries\, mural projects in public spaces\, and private commissions across the globe. Her unique aerosol art captures the heart and spirit of her subjects in ways that engage\, move\, and inspire. \n“:ShenShen210: was the first female graffiti artist on the West Coast to do quality work\, and graffiti is the most important art movement in the last 40+ years.”\n– Jim Prigoff\, photographer\, art historian\, and author of the bestselling book\, “Spraycan Art\,” which has sold more than 250\,000 copies to date. \n“I express the soul’s path to freedom from bondage. I explore the transformative power yielded via relationship with the Divine while thriving brilliantly through visual messages of deep abiding love. \nCombining realism with abstraction\, I seek to bring clarity where there was once confusion. Light and details are placed within shadows\, emulating the power that pain has to transform\, reveal and enlighten. Emerging woodgrain reflects the many layers of being human and the seasons in which life brings. I explore relationship with the Divine Creator using mixed media\, oil & airbrush\, which keeps me connected to my urban graffiti art roots.” Shen \n

SUMMARY:The Rains Came Down
DESCRIPTION:Noah and the Ark (Sandra Bowden Collections)\nImagined with a vast variety of living things parading into the ark two-by-two\,  the animals intrigue most youth who hear the story of Noah’s ark and the cargo it carried. The story of the flood has fascinated children and adults alike for centuries and has captured the imagination of the artist like no other biblical narrative. Medieval artists depicted the horrors of people clamoring for high ground but more recent interpretations view the event with humor and delight. \n\nThis exhibition has 30 pieces from diverse sources and in a variety of media\, some of which include: etchings by Marc Chagall\, Ben Zion and Arthur Geisert\, a 17th-century engraving\, paintings by outsider artists Rudolph Bostic and Dorethy Gorham\, two molas from the San Blas Islands off Panama\, a stencil print by Japanese artist Sadao Watanabe\, and charming wood sculpted Noah’s arks. Together they promise the viewer a delightful few minutes of exploring anew the beloved story of Noah and the Ark.
